PRYZ Agency is collaborating with curator Salimata Diop on a project to take place during the Biennale of Dakar. Pauline Rolland is co-directing the 2020 edition of BRIDGE.
BRIDGE is a program founded by a collective of artists from Africa and abroad, along with other art professionals. The program’s objectives are to present participatory art projects, to explore the role of the artist in contemporary society, and to enable cultural exchanges on local and international levels.
BRIDGE offers residencies to create interactions and dialogues between artists, a program of events including round tables, workshops, screenings, performances, concerts, and a series of exhibitions for the public to explore. BRIDGE 2020 crosses the centers of two Senegalese cities, Saint-Louis and Dakar, and a constellation of alternative spaces.
In May 2020, the art world’s spotlight shines on Senegal. The land of Ousmane Sow, Ndary Lo, and Iba Ndiaye hosts the 14th edition of Dak’Art - the Biennale of Dakar, satellite exhibitions and events, and the Saint-Louis Jazz Festival, all promising to be full of cultural richness and surprises.
During the Biennale of Dakar, BRIDGE 2020 presents a site-specific exhibition in Dakar at La Villa Rouge. A new generation of artists are invited to take over and transform its historically charged walls and courtyards, while creating a dialogue with the local population.
